CONFIRMED: Chelsea officially bid £85m to sign Real Madrid star player as Mauricio Pochettino working hard to strengthen his squad

CHELSEA new boss, Mauricio Pochettino working hard as the Blues have now made a bid to try sign Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni.

That is according to Spanish publication Defensa Central.

Aurelien Tchouameni is a quality defensive midfielder that played 50 games in total last season for Real Madrid, but the competition for places at the Bernabeu has been ramped up following the recent signing of Jude Bellingham.

So, could there be a high-profile exit in the Madrid midfield this summer?

Defensa Central claims that Chelsea have submitted an offer worth €60million (£51million) for Tchouameni.

The report explains that Spanish giants Madrid have made it clear they don’t intend to lose the 23-year-old this summer, but the Blues still have faith he can end up at Stamford Bridge.

Madrid agreed an £85million deal last summer when they signed Tchouameni from Monaco, so we would be very surprised to see him move for a fee significantly lower than that a year later.

The France international did miss out on starting some of the club’s biggest games during the second half of the season, but there’s no doubting his overall quality.

He’s an all-action player who is great in possession and has a lot of attributes off the ball when sitting at the base of midfield.

Former Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas, who played alongside Tchouameni at Monaco, once described him as the “modern midfield player”.

Similarly, Claude Makelele has called Tchouameni a “complete” player.

The Madrid ace definitely fits the kind of profile that Chelsea need to bring to their midfield, someone who can do a bit of everything from a No 6 position.
