Both have earned widespread praise for their skills, with Hazard recently revealing who he thinks was the superior player overall.

When asked by SPORTbible who he thought was the better player between him and Salah, Eden Hazard replied: “Mo Salah, by far.”

Hazard was then questioned if, during their time together at Chelsea, he could have predicted Salah’s future success.

He explained: “He was already good, you know, but to reach the level he’s at now? We played against him when he was at Basel in the Champions League, and we were like, ‘Wow.’ Then Chelsea signed him because we knew we had to. He was that good.”

Hazard added, “In football, you have highs and lows, but what he’s achieved at Liverpool is just incredible.”

Given Salah’s influence on the game, it’s hard to argue with Hazard’s assessment.

Hazard retired at 32 after a challenging stint with Real Madrid.

After his high-profile £150 million move from Chelsea, the now 33-year-old Eden Hazard opened up about his struggles in Spain.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, he reflected: “I think I was a bit unlucky with the timing of Covid. To explain, I had ankle surgery in Dallas, then returned to Madrid just as the pandemic hit.”

He continued, “For two to two-and-a-half months, I was stuck at home with no physio for rehab, so I had to do it on my own.

“If I could change one thing, I would have told the doctor, ‘Bring a physio, I need proper rehab.’ I had to because I wanted to keep playing at the highest level.”

Hazard added, “When Covid ended and we returned to training, I pushed my body hard, but my ankle wasn’t the same. The following season, everything fell apart, and the rest is history.”
