Marcus Rashford has commented after being substituted early in Manchester United’s Europa League match against Porto on Thursday.

United played to their second consecutive draw in the Europa League, with the game ending 3-3 after Porto rallied from a 2-0 deficit against the visitors.

Rashford scored the opening goal just seven minutes into the match, but he was taken off by manager Erik ten Hag at halftime, with Alejandro Garnacho coming on in his place.

Following the disappointing draw, Rashford expressed his feelings about the result on social media.

On Instagram, he stated, “Bitter Sweet. I’m happy to learn that I have broken into the top five scorers in Europe for United, but I’m gutted that we never managed to win tonight.”

Rashford’s goal came when Porto goalkeeper Diego Costa was unable to stop a powerful shot from hitting the right corner of the net.

Just 13 minutes later, Rashford assisted teammate Rasmus Hojlund, who scored his first goal of the season, extending United’s lead.

However, Porto quickly responded, with goals from Pepe and Samu Omorodion in the 27th and 34th minutes, leveling the match before halftime.

Many were surprised by Ten Hag’s decision to substitute Rashford at that point.

In his post-match comments to MUTV, Ten Hag explained, “We have to rotate. We didn’t start Garnacho, but he had a great game not only on Sunday but throughout the season.

“We sub players because we have another tough game on Sunday, and we need everyone to be available, fit, and fresh.

“It’s a quick turnaround to Villa, who have an extra day to recover, and we want fresh players on the pitch for the away game.”

Shortly after the second half began, Omorodion scored his second goal, putting Porto ahead, but Harry Maguire equalized in injury time, resulting in a draw.

Next, United will face a strong Aston Villa team away, who recently shocked Bayern Munich with a 1-0 win in the Champions League.
