Manchester United have been linked with a potential January move for one of Europe’s most promising strikers, with speculation mounting that Joshua Zirkzee could make an early exit.

United, aiming to ease the pressure on Rasmus Hojlund, signed Zirkzee from Bologna over the summer for £36.5 million. The Netherlands international, who netted 11 goals to help Bologna secure Champions League qualification, was given a five-year contract.

Zirkzee made an immediate impact, scoring the decisive goal in his debut against Fulham in the season opener, but has since struggled to find the back of the net. His form has been underwhelming, and reports suggest the 23-year-old could be set for a mid-season loan move to Juventus.

In the meantime, United have reportedly turned their attention to RB Leipzig’s rising star Benjamin Sesko, one of Europe’s most exciting young talents. According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are monitoring Sesko closely.

Sesko, who joined Leipzig in 2023 following a stellar run with Salzburg where he scored 16 goals in 30 games in his final season, continued to impress in Germany, recording 18 goals across all competitions.

Last summer, Sesko was on the radar of several top European clubs, including United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and AC Milan, but ultimately chose to stay with Leipzig, signing a new deal until 2029. With a reported €65 million release clause, a move could still be on the horizon, though Sesko has made it clear he wants to be playing Champions League football.

Despite United’s interest, their shaky start to the season could make it difficult to secure a place in Europe’s elite competition, which may influence Sesko’s decision. The striker, however, stands by his choice to remain at Leipzig, citing the club’s commitment to growth and development as key factors in his decision.
