Despite their strong start, there remain lingering doubts about the Reds’ title chances, largely due to what many have considered an easier fixture list. This skepticism has led several pundits to dismiss Liverpool as genuine title contenders ahead of the October international break.

Gary Neville disagreed with Paul Merson’s prediction for the Liverpool vs Chelsea clash, backing the Reds to claim all three points. The former Manchester United defender predicted a 3-1 win for Liverpool, citing the advantage of playing at Anfield and Chelsea’s relative inexperience.

“I think Liverpool beat them. I think Chelsea, they’re a bit younger… 3-1,” Neville said on The Overlap, hinting that Chelsea might struggle under the pressure.

In contrast, fellow Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson predicted a 2-2 draw but conceded that a Liverpool win would solidify Slot’s side as true title contenders. Despite being underrated by many, Slot and his squad appear content to fly under the radar as they aim for success later in the season.
