“‘Not a Quick Fix’: Arne Slot Reveals Concerning Update on Alisson Becker’s Fitness”
Liverpool fans are well aware that Alisson Becker is currently sidelined and hoping for a quick return, but that doesn’t seem to be on the horizon.
In his press conference ahead of the Arsenal match, Arne Slot provided an update on our No.1: “He’s progressing well, as expected, but this isn’t a short-term recovery.
“It’s always tricky to predict. The best way to judge an injury is toward the end of rehab, and he’s not there yet.
“I can’t say how much longer he’ll be out, but don’t expect him to play against Brighton in the cup or next week.”
This suggests a longer recovery period for the Brazilian, meaning we’re likely to see a lot more of Caoimhin Kelleher guarding our goal.
Time for Caoimhin Kelleher to Shine Once Again
Such is the nature of sports: when one player’s opportunity is paused, another has the chance to excel, which is exactly what the Irishman has been doing.
With Steve McManaman saying it would be ‘disrespectful’ to label our No.62 a backup, Kelleher’s reputation is certainly growing.
This season could very well be his last at Anfield, with Giorgi Mamardashvili possibly joining the competition. If he keeps pulling off the stunning saves we’ve seen recently, he’ll leave some big shoes (and gloves) to fill.
