Vinicius Jr, at 24, stands as a top contender for the Ballon d’Or, set to be awarded on October 28, 2024, at Paris’ Theatre du Chatelet. His chances have soared after a remarkable second-half hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 5-2 Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund on October 22.

A player of immense potential, Vinicius has elevated his consistency in recent years. Last season, he was vital in Real Madrid’s double-winning success, netting a key goal in the Champions League final against Dortmund to complete a season tally of 24 goals in 39 appearances. This season, he’s already scored eight goals and assisted seven times in 14 games.

At this rate, he’s primed to remain at Madrid through his peak years—if injuries stay at bay. But in a candid moment, he acknowledged he’d consider leaving if approached by a specific club.

“I feel I could stay here my entire career, but Flamengo is the club of my life,” he told L’Équipe in 2023.

“I love life here, and my family is happy. When they’re out and about, they’re recognized and met with warmth. Over time, I’ve embraced the unique passion of Madrid. It’s one-of-a-kind, a sentiment people around the world understand.

“And, I enjoy it here. I’m more of a homebody, but there are plenty of activities.”

Vinicius, who rose through Flamengo’s ranks and played 69 senior games before joining Madrid in 2018, now has a chance to further solidify his legacy with a strong showing in this weekend’s El Clasico against Barcelona. While he’s won every possible club trophy, international success remains on his horizon.
