Vinicius Junior and Real Madrid are reportedly planning to skip the Ballon d’Or ceremony, marking a surprising twist ahead of the event.

The ceremony is set to take place at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, where top contenders like Vinicius, Rodri, Jude Bellingham, and Kylian Mbappe are in the spotlight for the prestigious award.

Initially, Vinicius was believed to be a strong favorite to claim the Ballon d’Or. However, just hours before the event, a major change in expectations has emerged.

According to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins on social media: “BREAKING. Vinicius Jr.’s entourage is now convinced he will not win the Ballon d’Or. Everyone in Madrid shares this feeling.”

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano also reported that Real Madrid will not attend the Paris ceremony. He shared on X: “BREAKING: Vinicius Jr will NOT travel to Paris as Real Madrid know he will NOT win the Ballon d’Or. No one from Real Madrid will attend the ceremony. No Florentino Pérez, no Vini Jr, no Carlo Ancelotti, no Jude Bellingham.”

Hawkins further reported: “Real Madrid’s directors are furious. They are certain Vini Jr will not win the Ballon d’Or, and the Real delegation is staying in Spain. The trip to Paris has been cancelled.”

Reports now suggest that Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri could take the Ballon d’Or over Vinicius and Bellingham. However, the official announcement will come during tonight’s star-studded event in Paris.

Rodri recently shared his thoughts, stating, “A Spaniard deserves to win. Spanish football deserves a Ballon d’Or winner. Spain deserves to win a Ballon d’Or.”
