On Monday night, the prestigious 2024 Ballon d’Or was awarded to Rodri, the Manchester City and Spain midfielder, who had an outstanding season for both his club and country.

However, before the ceremony, Real Madrid believed Vinicius was the rightful winner and chose to boycott the event upon learning that he had not won.

After the ceremony concluded, Vinicius posted on social media: “Eu farei 10x se for preciso. Eles não estão preparados,” which translates to: “I’ll do it 10 times if I have to. They’re not ready.”

Vinicius’ teammates also expressed their support; Eduardo Camavinga stated, “My brother, you are the best player in the world, and no award can say otherwise. Love you, my bro.”

Meanwhile, Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, who was awarded Coach of the Year, said: “I want to thank my family, my president, my club, my players, and above all, Vini and Carvajal.”
