Ruben Amorim is emerging as the top candidate to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, with the club actively working to finalize a deal. Reports suggest that Amorim has already shared his transfer targets with United as talks progress to bring him in following Ten Hag’s departure on Monday. Ten Hag was dismissed after United’s loss to West Ham, which left the team 14th in the Premier League standings. Former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has stepped in as interim manager, but Sporting CP’s Amorim quickly became the favorite for the permanent role and has entered negotiations with the club.
The 39-year-old, who has attracted interest from both Liverpool and West Ham in the past, could be secured for United through a contract loophole, allowing them to pay only €10 million (£8.3 million) in compensation—significantly less than his €30 million release clause, following his contract extension in June 2026.
