For the past four years, Andy Robertson has held the top spot in the left-back position, with Kostas Tsimikas as a reliable backup. However, this area could see changes, if emerging reports are accurate.

Liverpool Set Sights on Premier League Left-Backs

Graeme Bailey from TBR Football reports that Liverpool’s management sees room for improvement in the left-back position and has identified a few Premier League targets.

Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves is reportedly Liverpool’s preferred option and remains closely monitored, with the club tracking him for over a year.

Liverpool is also keeping tabs on Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, along with Ajax’s Jorrel Hato, who has been scouted by the club.

Ait-Nouri Emerging as an Intriguing Prospect

Liverpool reportedly showed interest in Ait-Nouri during the summer, with CaughtOffside revealing that Liverpool representatives met with Wolves to discuss the 23-year-old. David Lynch also suggested in August that a deal seemed possible before the summer transfer deadline.

The Algerian has been in strong form recently, scoring in three of his last four games and providing assists under Gary O’Neil’s management. According to FBref and Transfermarkt data, Ait-Nouri is among the top 1% of positional peers in Europe’s major leagues for successful take-ons per 90 minutes and ranks highly for non-penalty xG and goals, highlighting his attacking impact.

Bailey’s update on Ait-Nouri comes just after Robertson’s tough outing against Arsenal and could raise questions about Tsimikas’ future if the Greek international is pushed further down the depth chart.

While it remains uncertain if Liverpool will make a 2025 bid for Ait-Nouri, his name is likely to stay in the mix as a potential addition for Hughes in the coming months.
