Last season, Real Madrid achieved remarkable success, clinching both the La Liga and Champions League titles. They finished 10 points ahead of rivals Barcelona in the league and celebrated their 15th European trophy after defeating Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

This season, however, things haven’t gone as smoothly, even with the high-profile addition of Kylian Mbappe, who joined on a blockbuster free transfer over the summer. Despite scoring eight goals in all competitions, Mbappe’s team has been unable to keep pace with Barcelona in La Liga and has already suffered a loss in their Champions League campaign.

Spanish outlet Relevo reports that Ancelotti sees Mbappe’s limited defensive contribution as a significant issue, with his lack of pressing creating a tactical imbalance in the team. The report highlights that in Real’s 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico, Mbappe ran just eight kilometers, contributing to an overall lack of defensive support.

This imbalance has also impacted Jude Bellingham, who, according to the report, has been among the most affected by the tactical issues. Frustration with Mbappe’s defensive commitment has reportedly caused some tension within the squad, with on-field debates among players occurring during games against Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona as they search for solutions.

Ancelotti will be eager to address these organizational issues before upcoming matches against AC Milan and Osasuna.
