After being sidelined since May 2023 due to a serious knee injury, the 25-year-old made his comeback with United’s U21s in their EFL Trophy match against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday. Malacia started at left-back for the young Red Devils at the John Smith’s Stadium.

United fans took to social media to share their excitement about Malacia’s performance in the first half. One fan tweeted, “Tyrell Malacia looked sharp in his first half back from injury!” Another commented, “Malacia just made a superb challenge in midfield—really clean contact to win the ball. He’s looked relatively sharp considering this is his first game in 517 days.” A third added, “Malacia looks very comfortable too, given how long he’s been out.”

Other supporters expressed optimism for his future, with one saying, “I know Tyrell Malacia is going to cook for us this season,” and another writing, “Let Malacia cook.”

Malacia’s return was short-lived, however, as he was substituted at halftime, with Harry Amass coming on to take his place for the second half.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is preparing for a fresh start under new manager Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag earlier this week. Amorim expressed confidence about the upcoming challenge, saying, “I feel ready for the new challenge. I’m not naive, I know it’s going to be very different, very difficult… I’m at peace now, I can focus on my new job.”

Amorim’s first match in charge will be a Premier League clash against Ipswich Town next weekend.
