The UEFA Nations League clash between the Netherlands and Hungary was paused just seven minutes into the game due to a medical emergency involving a member of the Hungary coaching staff.

The incident occurred during Saturday night’s fixture at the Johan Cruyff Arena, prompting immediate concern from both teams. Medical personnel quickly attended to the individual, identified later as former Schalke striker Adam Szalai, who joined Marco Rossi’s coaching team in October. Players and staff formed a protective huddle while treatment was administered.

Szalai was eventually taken to the hospital in Amsterdam after regaining consciousness, and the game resumed following the delay.

The Netherlands took the lead in the 21st minute with a Wout Weghorst penalty, awarded after a VAR review. Cody Gakpo doubled their advantage early in the second half with another penalty.
