The England international, whose contract with Liverpool expires this summer, has been a target of intense speculation. The Reds are eager to secure his future with a new deal, particularly as fellow stars Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are also nearing the end of their contracts.

With no agreement reached, Alexander-Arnold will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs in January and potentially sign a pre-contract agreement for a summer move. Real Madrid, grappling with injuries in defense, were rumored to be pursuing a January move for the right-back, especially after captain Dani Carvajal’s season-ending ACL injury.

However, according to a report from Relevo, the Spanish giants have abandoned their plans for the January transfer window. Manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly resigned to finishing the season with his current squad, despite ongoing defensive challenges.

While Real’s immediate interest has cooled, they remain a looming threat to Liverpool, as Alexander-Arnold could leave on a free transfer this summer. Despite the speculation, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has praised Alexander-Arnold’s mental strength and focus.

“These players are accustomed to being linked with top clubs daily,” Slot said in October. “They’re not distracted by it—it’s part of the job.”

Currently sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in Liverpool’s game against Aston Villa, Alexander-Arnold missed England’s recent international fixtures but is expected to return to action soon.
