After enduring a four-match winless run in the Premier League, Arsenal bounced back with a vital 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates on Saturday. The win was crucial for Mikel Arteta’s side, who had fallen behind in the title race before the international break, making the match a must-win to stay in contention.

Goals from Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey, and Ethan Nwaneri secured the three points, keeping Arsenal in the hunt as Liverpool faced Southampton on Sunday.

Ahead of the crucial clash, reports revealed that Arsenal had opened contract talks with Bukayo Saka, whose current deal runs until 2027. The club is eager to lock in one of their standout players with a new long-term contract.

Saka has been instrumental for Arsenal this season, scoring four goals and providing five assists in just six Premier League games at home. His partnership with Martin Ødegaard has been key to the team’s attacking success, which is why the club is keen to extend his stay at the Emirates despite interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid. However, it is believed that Saka is committed to remaining at Arsenal.

In addition, Arsenal is in discussions with 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri over a new long-term deal. Nwaneri, who marked his first Premier League goal against Nottingham Forest, is set to receive a significant pay increase as part of his progression into the first team.

Mikel Arteta praised Nwaneri after the match, saying: “He’s brave. You see the reaction of fans, and they were singing ‘he’s one of our own.’ That’s a story in itself. I think we have to put brick by brick and make sure the cement doesn’t get dry. Hopefully, we can build something beautiful with him.”
