Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher shared his thoughts on the contract impasse between Liverpool and Mohamed Salah, following the forward’s post-match comments after a standout performance against Southampton, where Salah scored twice to extend Liverpool’s Premier League lead to eight points.

Speaking to reporters, Salah expressed frustration over the lack of progress in negotiations. “We’re almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers to stay at the club,” he said. “I’m probably more out than in. I love the fans, and they love me, but this isn’t in my hands.” Salah admitted feeling “disappointed” about the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Carragher, appearing on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, criticized the timing of Salah’s remarks. “I’m very disappointed with Mo Salah,” Carragher said. “Liverpool have Real Madrid midweek and Manchester City at the weekend—those are the stories right now. Salah has rarely spoken in the mixed zone during his time at Liverpool, but he chose to do so after winning the game at Southampton.”

Despite his initial criticism, Carragher later offered a balanced perspective, explaining the root of the standoff. “It’s clear that the issue is what Salah feels he’s worth—whether that’s financially or in terms of contract length—versus what Liverpool believe is fair. I just hope they find a middle ground soon because I’m desperate to see him in a Liverpool shirt next season.”
