Ahead of Saturday’s match against Marco Silva’s Fulham, which Liverpool hopes will help them extend their Premier League lead, the club posted the iconic free-kick from last season’s 4-3 win. Although the ball hit the crossbar and deflected off Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno, the goal was ultimately credited as an own goal.

Salah took the opportunity to remind fans of the outcome, commenting on the Instagram post: “I think that ended up as an own goal [laughing face emoji].”

Fans quickly reacted to Salah’s playful comment. One supporter wrote: “Love him so much,” while another joked: “First, he exposed him for taking 20 tries to score from a difficult angle, and now this.” A third fan quipped: “What does he have against Trent? I’m cryinggg.” Others linked the comment to a recent interview in which Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson were asked to build their perfect player. When asked who had the best left foot, both players overlooked Salah in favor of Xherdan Shaqiri, which sparked some friendly teasing between them.

In the interview, Robertson explained: “Shaq’s left foot was a joke,” with Alexander-Arnold agreeing that Shaqiri’s technique was unique, although both acknowledged Salah’s incredible left foot as well.
