Ben Davies delivers an assist and scores a powerful header in a standout performance for Wales.

Wales began their World Cup qualification campaign in ideal fashion, with Ben Davies playing a key role by scoring and providing an assist in a 3-1 win over Kazakhstan at Cardiff City.

Skippering the side, Davies helped lead Wales towards their goal of reaching consecutive World Cup tournaments for the first time in history.

In front of their home crowd, Craig Bellamy’s team delivered a confident performance, though Kazakhstan offered resistance—particularly in the first half. The Dragons ultimately pulled away thanks to two decisive contributions from the Tottenham defender.

Davies helped create the opener just nine minutes in, reacting first to a loose ball in the box and teeing up Dan James, whose deflected shot found the net.

Kazakhstan equalized from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute after a cross struck Connor Roberts’ hand, but Davies restored the lead early in the second half, heading home from close range following a misjudged corner by the goalkeeper.

Substitute Rabbi Matondo sealed the win with a late third goal, wrapping up a positive evening for Bellamy’s side.

The performance was a timely confidence boost for Davies after a tough ending to his last club match, where he was beaten by ex-teammate Ryan Sessegnon in Spurs’ 2-0 loss to Fulham.

While Davies stood out, fellow Tottenham player Brennan Johnson had a quieter night, struggling to make an impact up front before being subbed off after 62 minutes.
