Mohamed Salah has signed a two-year contract extension with Liverpool, committing to the club until 2027.
It’s official: Mo Salah is staying at Liverpool for the foreseeable future.
The Egyptian star, whose contract was previously set to expire in the summer of 2025 alongside teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, has now extended his stay at Anfield.
Liverpool broke the news via their official X (formerly Twitter) account early Friday morning, giving fans a reason to celebrate as the day began.
“I’m really excited,” Salah said in an interview with the club’s website. “We’ve got a strong team now—just like we had before. I signed because I truly believe we can win more trophies and I’m enjoying my football here.”
“This club has given me the best years of my career. I’ve been here eight years, and hopefully it’ll be ten. I love life here, I love the football. To the fans, I just want to say I’m very happy to stay. I believe we’ll win big trophies together. Keep supporting us, and we’ll give it our all.”
Salah has signed a two-year extension, keeping him at Liverpool until 2027.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the deal doesn’t include any changes to his existing salary, which remains at a reported £400,000 per week.
Despite speculation linking him with a move to the Saudi Pro League, Salah has chosen to remain on Merseyside.
Van Dijk could be next.
There’s growing expectation that Virgil van Dijk’s contract situation will soon be resolved as well. While both he and Salah have experienced slight dips in form recently, their overall contributions this season have been exceptional.
Their consistent performance levels—and in Salah’s case, elite fitness—likely influenced Liverpool’s rare move to extend deals for players in their 30s. The club clearly believes the duo can still deliver top-level performances in the years ahead.
