Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has looked back on his time in charge of Everton with fondness — and a touch of irony.

“My dream was always to manage Liverpool,” Ancelotti admitted. “But I ended up at Everton and got to experience the fierce rivalry up close — and from that moment, I was fully behind the blue side.”

He praised the club’s atmosphere and the supporters’ passion: “The energy around the club was incredible. You really feel how deeply the fans care, especially in relation to Liverpool, who have long been the dominant force in the Premier League.”

Ancelotti managed Everton from December 2019 to June 2021 before making a surprise return to Real Madrid.
