“Mo Salah Takes Hilarious Swipe at Jurgen Klopp After Liverpool’s Title Triumph”
The Liverpool forward found the back of the net during Sunday’s 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur, a result that secured the Premier League title for the Reds.
After Liverpool sealed their 20th English top-flight crown, Mohamed Salah playfully took a jab at former manager Jurgen Klopp.
Salah, 32, scored Liverpool’s fourth goal at Anfield — his 28th league goal of the 2024/25 season — and his first since signing a new two-year contract on April 10. The emphatic victory under Arne Slot’s leadership wrapped up the title with four games still to spare.
Although Liverpool previously won the league in 2020, Sunday marked the first time since 1990 that players and fans could fully celebrate together. Five years ago, celebrations were limited to a small group of around 500 family and friends due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the title-clinching match, Salah was asked to compare the two triumphs.
He told Sky Sports: “Oh, this one feels much better, absolutely. No Sadio, no Jurgen, no Bobby — it’s different, but sharing it with everyone and the fans makes it even more special. We have a new group, a new manager, and to prove we can do it again means a lot.”
Salah also hinted at enjoying his role more under Slot than under Klopp, saying: “The numbers speak for themselves. Now I don’t have to track back as much defensively. The tactics have changed. I told him, ‘If you give me less defensive work, I’ll deliver in attack,’ and I’m happy that he listened — you can see the results.”
The Egyptian forward is now leading the race for the Premier League Golden Boot and is a strong contender for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Arne Slot was quick to pay tribute to Jurgen Klopp during his post-match speech to the Anfield crowd.
“It feels fantastic,” Slot said. “I don’t have many words, but I want to show my appreciation to Jurgen.”
Speaking to Match of the Day, Slot added: “I’m almost certain there’ll be a message from Jurgen on my phone. We’ve been in contact throughout the season. He showed his class last year by welcoming me in.
“But most importantly, he left behind a team that had the quality to win this title.”
