Despite this achievement, speculation over Romero’s future is intensifying. Both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are reportedly circling, with Football Insider revealing that Spurs could be open to selling Romero this summer if the right offer comes in—an apparent softening from their stance last year when he was considered untouchable.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown even suggested Romero prefers a move to Real Madrid over their cross-town rivals, and Tottenham may favor selling him over defenders like Micky van de Ven.
