Arsenal are nearing agreement on a five-year contract for a “top player,” but Liverpool are also in negotiations, and Manchester United are getting ready to make an offer.

Arsenal are on the verge of finalising a deal with Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, currently ahead of their Premier League rivals in the race to secure his signature.

According to CaughtOffside, the Gunners have progressed significantly in their negotiations and have proposed a five-year contract valued at around £9 million per year.

Although Arsenal are currently leading the chase for the Swedish forward, both Manchester United and Liverpool are still very much in contention. Sources reveal that United are preparing a formal bid, while Liverpool have also initiated talks as they consider replacements for Darwin Nunez.

The interest in Gyokeres comes as no shock given his outstanding form. Despite not featuring in any of Europe’s top five leagues, the 26-year-old has been prolific in Portugal, scoring an astonishing 95 goals in 100 games for Sporting since arriving last season.

Gyokeres—praised as a “top player” by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya—could be a significant upgrade over current Gunners forwards like Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, who haven’t consistently delivered high goal tallies.

Still, Arsenal must act swiftly, with both United and Liverpool keen to swoop in. The former Coventry City and Brighton striker reportedly prefers playing Champions League football, which may put United at a disadvantage unless they clinch the Europa League title.

Liverpool, meanwhile, could be an appealing destination following their Premier League triumph under Arne Slot, signaling a promising new era at Anfield.
