Liverpool Lining Up Second Summer Signing as Frimpong Deal Nears Completion

With Jeremie Frimpong close to undergoing his medical, Liverpool are already pressing ahead with plans for their next summer acquisition.

The Reds have swiftly addressed the right wing-back position in preparation for Trent Alexander-Arnold’s anticipated exit, with the No.66 expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer once his contract expires.

Now, attention has turned to the opposite flank, where Liverpool have been given the green light to step up their pursuit of Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

Liverpool Step Up Chase for Milos Kerkez
Reports indicate the club has now made contact with Bournemouth regarding a deal for their dynamic left-back, Kerkez.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Hungarian international is high on Liverpool’s priority list, and the club is “determined” to secure his signing this summer.

As ever, Liverpool are prepared with a backup option—Ajax’s 19-year-old defender Jorrel Hato, should the Kerkez deal not materialize.

Plettenberg wrote on X:

“Milos Kerkez is high on Liverpool’s list. They’re determined to sign him as their new left-back. Contact with Bournemouth is confirmed. If a deal doesn’t happen, Jorrel Hato is being considered.”

Kerkez Open to Merseyside Move
According to Fabrizio Romano, Kerkez is enthusiastic about the potential transfer to Liverpool. The 21-year-old has even dropped subtle hints pointing toward an imminent move.

With the summer transfer window nearing, expectations are that negotiations will proceed smoothly.

Who is Milos Kerkez?
Kerkez joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2023 from AZ Alkmaar, one of Arne Slot’s former clubs. Since arriving in the Premier League, the young left-back has made 72 appearances, scoring twice and assisting eight times.

He also plays alongside Dominik Szoboszlai for the Hungarian national team—bringing added chemistry to the Reds’ squad.

Tsimikas Set for Departure
With a new left-back incoming, Kostas Tsimikas appears to be heading for the exit. The Greek international, remembered fondly for scoring the winning penalty in Liverpool’s 2022 FA Cup victory, is likely to move on.

Tsimikas’ Liverpool stats:

114 appearances

18 assists (via Transfermarkt)

While Andy Robertson remains the club’s top senior left-back, his age has started to show, and the club is clearly planning for the future without rushing the Scotsman out the door.
