Julian Alvarez has been tipped for a quick comeback to the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Liverpool showing interest in signing the forward.

Julian Alvarez will remain at Atletico Madrid this summer, despite strong interest from Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool, according to club president Enrique Cerezo.

The 25-year-old striker made an immediate impact in his debut season with the Spanish club, scoring an impressive 29 goals across all competitions after completing an £80 million move from Manchester City to La Liga. Despite facing stiff competition from Erling Haaland during his time at the Etihad, Alvarez still showcased his talent, making him a sought-after target for clubs in England.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are reported to be monitoring the Argentine forward as they seek to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season. However, Cerezo has firmly ruled out any potential exit.

“Julian Alvarez is an Atletico Madrid player and will continue to be one,” he told Marca on Monday evening.

While it remains uncertain whether Arsenal or Liverpool will test Atletico’s resolve with an official bid, both clubs are also weighing up alternative striker targets.

Last month, Marca reported that Arsenal were particularly keen on Alvarez, labelling them the “strongest bidders” as the Gunners push to land a top-class striker to boost their title ambitions.

However, the report also suggested that Alvarez himself may be hesitant about a return to the Premier League, despite his prior success at Manchester City—a departure that reportedly sparked mixed reactions among fans.

If Alvarez proves unattainable, Arsenal are expected to focus their attention on Viktor Gyökeres and Benjamin Šeško, two long-term targets who could be on the move this summer.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are being linked with Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike. The Merseyside club may face stiff competition from Chelsea, who remain interested in the 22-year-old despite closing in on the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.

The Reds are also reportedly willing to sell Darwin Núñez to help finance a new striker, while also remaining in pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz in what could become a record-breaking deal for the club.
