Chelsea make bold approach to Barcelona with ambitious swap deal that could be one of the standout transfers of the summer.

Chelsea have made an offer to Barcelona and quickly received a response from the Spanish club regarding a high-profile swap deal.

Following their qualification for next season’s Champions League and recent Conference League triumph, Chelsea have wasted no time strengthening their squad for the upcoming campaign.

The Blues secured Liam Delap from Ipswich for £30 million, outbidding several Premier League rivals, with the former Manchester City striker signing a six-year contract.

They also completed the signing of promising youngster Dario Essugo from Sporting CP for around £18.5 million, a deal announced just last week.

Now, Chelsea have reportedly approached Barcelona with a proposal involving midfielder Fermin Lopez.

Barcelona Reject Chelsea’s Swap Offer

According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea proposed swapping Fermin Lopez for Christopher Nkunku, who is out of favor at Chelsea and expected to move this summer.

Barcelona swiftly rejected the offer. Key figures like coach Hansi Flick and club president Joan Laporta consider Lopez a vital member of the squad.

Although Lopez isn’t always a guaranteed starter, competing with Dani Olmo and Gavi, he has contributed eight goals and 10 assists across 46 games this season.

Lopez, who extended his contract until 2029 and scored in Barcelona’s title-winning match against Espanyol, recently reaffirmed his commitment to the club.

> “I’m not thinking about leaving or anything like that,” Lopez told Tu Diras de RAC1. “I’m very happy at Barca. It was my dream and I obviously want to stay.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also reportedly targeting Lopez’s Spanish teammate Nico Williams from Athletic Club.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that both Chelsea and Arsenal are keen on Williams and ready to invest heavily to secure the Athletic Club star.

Both Lopez and Williams are now focused on winning more trophies with Spain as they prepare for the Nations League final against Portugal on Sunday.
