Manchester United has announced that nine players will be released at the end of their contracts this month. Ruben Amorim’s squad has been addressing various contract issues as they head into the summer, affecting both the first team and the academy.

Veteran defender Jonny Evans and midfielder Christian Eriksen had already confirmed their departures, with Evans also retiring from professional football. Now, decisions have been made regarding the futures of additional players.

Victor Lindelof will also leave United when his contract expires, along with young goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk. The club is currently negotiating a new deal with third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

The following senior and academy players have been released:

In addition to Heaton, 18-year-old academy forward Ashton Missin has been offered new terms.

Lindelof has been one of the longest-serving players, joining the club in 2017. His latter time at United was marred by injuries, and he was gradually phased out under Erik ten Hag and Amorim, making only 16 Premier League appearances last season.

Evans, a former academy graduate, returned to the club in 2023 after an initial nine-year spell. He was initially signed as a squad player but made 23 Premier League appearances last season, proving to be a reliable performer. However, injuries limited him to just 13 appearances this season.

Christian Eriksen joined on a free transfer from Brentford in the summer of 2022, going on to make 107 appearances, scoring eight goals and assisting 18 times.

Unlike Arsenal, Manchester United did not release their retained list for the women’s team alongside the men’s announcement, as the futures of their four out-of-contract senior players had already been decided well before the season concluded.
