Thomas Frank Set to Replace Ange Postecoglou as Spurs Close in on New Manager

Thomas Frank is poised to take over as Tottenham Hotspur’s new head coach following a major update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has delivered his trademark “here we go” confirmation.

Spurs had been widely expected to appoint a new manager this week, following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou after just two seasons in charge.

The North London club considered several candidates, including former boss Mauricio Pochettino, Fulham’s Marco Silva, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, and Brentford’s Thomas Frank. However, Frank has consistently been seen as the leading contender, with numerous reports suggesting that negotiations with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy were progressing smoothly.

Romano Confirms Frank Deal Is Done

On Monday, The Athletic reported that Tottenham had formally approached Brentford regarding Frank’s availability, with the deal expected to be wrapped up within 48 hours.

Fabrizio Romano has now weighed in with a significant update, confirming that an agreement has been reached between Spurs and Frank. According to Romano, contract terms and coaching staff details have been finalised, and Brentford are ready to release their manager for a compensation fee believed to be around £10 million.

Romano tweeted: “Agreement done with the manager on contract terms and staff, Brentford set to release Frank for fee in the region of £10m. He’s the replacement for Ange Postecoglou.”

Frank to Become Levy’s 16th Managerial Appointment

Although Tottenham have yet to make an official announcement, it’s understood the club has set a timeline for unveiling Frank as the new head coach this week.

This move marks a significant step up for Frank, who is now preparing to lead one of the Premier League’s so-called “big six” clubs. During his time at Brentford, the Danish manager earned widespread praise, guiding the Bees to two top-half Premier League finishes in the past three seasons.

Should the appointment be confirmed, Frank will become the 16th managerial hire under chairman Daniel Levy over the past 24 years.
