Liverpool may now be in a position to push ahead with a key defensive signing following a crucial development from a Premier League rival.

Sky Sports News reporter Mark McAdam has revealed that Bournemouth’s acquisition of Adrien Truffert is “expected to pave the way” for Milos Kerkez to move to Liverpool. The two clubs have reportedly been in talks recently over the 21-year-old Hungarian left-back.

Kerkez, who made 41 appearances across all competitions last season and plays alongside Dominik Szoboszlai for Hungary, has long been seen as a potential successor to Andy Robertson at Anfield.

With Truffert’s £14.4 million transfer from Rennes now complete, the pathway appears clearer.

“Adrien Truffert’s transfer to Bournemouth is expected to pave the way for Milos Kerkez to join Liverpool,” McAdam stated.

Although Liverpool have yet to submit an official offer, Sky Sports News maintains that Truffert is being lined up as Kerkez’s replacement.

Kerkez still has three years left on his current contract, and Bournemouth are said to value him at around £45 million.

Bringing in Kerkez might affect more than just the left-back role. Andy Robertson, recently linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, may not be willing to take on a reduced role at this stage of his career.
