The club has withdrawn from the competition to acquire Bryan Mbeumo, as the situation regarding the Brentford star has taken an unexpected turn.

Bryan Mbeumo, 25, was a standout performer in the 2024/25 season, scoring 20 goals and providing nine assists in 42 matches for Brentford. With the summer transfer window open, he has been linked with a move, particularly to Manchester United.

Earlier reports suggested that Tottenham Hotspur was also interested in signing the Cameroon international, hoping to use new manager Thomas Frank’s past relationship with Mbeumo to entice him away from United.

However, it seems Spurs have now stepped back from the chase. Transfer Insider Valentin Furlan stated on social media that sources confirm Tottenham is out of the running, and Mbeumo has reportedly pledged his commitment to Manchester United.

Furlan also noted that recent negotiations between Manchester United and Brentford have been promising, with personal terms agreed upon as they work on finalizing the transfer fee. Mbeumo is said to favor a move to United.

As the Red Devils prepare for an active transfer window to strengthen their squad after a disappointing 15th-place finish, they have already brought in Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers for approximately £62.5 million.

In addition to Mbeumo, United is eyeing players like Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike, but will face competition from Premier League teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool. Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany mentioned that Manchester United is currently the only club to have directly contacted Eintracht Frankfurt, while Liverpool and Chelsea have only spoken to the player’s representatives.
