Nunez is willing to collaborate with Conte, but the agreement now depends on the club’s requirements, according to Romano.

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is now considering a move to Napoli this summer, but the deal is uncertain due to Liverpool’s financial demands, which pose a significant obstacle.
According to Fabrizio Romano on X, the Uruguayan has “given his initial green light” to join the Serie A club, impressed by Antonio Conte’s vision for the team.
Napoli is eager to find a new No. 9 and believes the 25-year-old could excel in Italy under their new head coach. However, the negotiations are still in the early phases and could fall through if financial issues aren’t resolved.
Romano noted that the deal depends on financial feasibility since Liverpool seeks a substantial transfer fee, and the striker’s salary is also a crucial factor.
Nunez has struggled under Arne Slot, finishing the Premier League season with only five goals. Despite making over 140 appearances since joining in 2022, his inconsistency and lack of confidence from the new head coach have led to speculation about his future.
Liverpool reportedly saved around £5 million in potential bonuses by not allowing him to start a 50th game last season, indicating that his position might be in jeopardy.
Conte views Nunez as a perfect match for his high-intensity style and has made him a priority target, but the financial implications of the move, especially given the striker’s high salary at Anfield, complicate matters.
Liverpool initially paid £64 million for him from Benfica, and although the fee could have reached £85 million, a permanent transfer this summer is likely to result in a lower amount, estimated around £50 million.
If Nunez leaves, it could pave the way for the club to pursue another forward, particularly with ongoing interest in players like Alexander Isak, who many fans consider an ideal replacement for the No. 9 spot.
Additionally, Nunez’s potential exit could facilitate the arrival of Florian Wirtz at Liverpool, as the German is expected to play a central role in the attack next season, possibly occupying the space Nunez would have used.
