Liverpool has confirmed a medical appointment for next week concerning a target that a Premier League rival was also interested in.

Reports suggest that Liverpool has secured another summer signing, agreeing to a “six-figure fee” for 16-year-old Blackpool teenager Gabriel Schluter. This addition would bring the total to six new arrivals at the AXA training center during this transfer window, alongside Giorgi Mamardashvili (goalkeeper), Jeremie Frimpong (right-back), Armin Pecsi (goalkeeper), Florian Wirtz (attacking midfielder), and Milos Kerkez (left-back).

Excluding the Georgian international, Schluter would be Liverpool’s fifth signing. According to transfer insider Pete O’Rourke from Football Insider, a medical has been scheduled for the teen next week following impressive performances in Blackpool’s youth system, including his debut senior appearance.

During a match against Liverpool U21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, Schluter played eight minutes off the bench and scored a penalty in the shootout after a goalless draw.

Fulham also expressed interest in signing Schluter, with Stockport and the Premier League club keeping tabs on him, as reported by Football League World. Schluter was awarded the Players’ Player of the Year at Blackpool’s academy awards in 2024.

In related news, Liverpool is still considering Hugo Ekitike. While Newcastle has been firm about not selling Alexander Isak, Liverpool may explore alternatives if they finalize talks with Napoli regarding Darwin Nunez. Ekitike remains on the club’s radar, though it’s uncertain if they would be willing to pay around £85.4 million. Christian Falk reported that Eintracht Frankfurt is holding out for €100 million for Ekitike, with Liverpool possibly making a move after selling Nunez. Currently, Manchester United is the only club that has formally engaged with Eintracht about Ekitike.
