Jude Bellingham posts emotional message about Trent Alexander-Arnold in the wake of former teammate Diogo Jota’s passing.

The Real Madrid defender spent five seasons alongside Diogo Jota at Liverpool.

Jude Bellingham has shared an emotional update on how Trent Alexander-Arnold is coping following the tragic passing of his former Liverpool teammate, Diogo Jota.

The football world was left in shock after Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, lost their lives in a fatal car crash in northern Spain during the early hours of July 3. Initial reports revealed that the Lamborghini Huracan they were travelling in suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking, veered off the road, and caught fire.

It is believed that Jota, who had recently undergone surgery in Portugal and had been advised by doctors not to fly, was making his way back to the UK via ferry from Santander to report for pre-season training at Liverpool.

A wake was held in Gondomar, Portugal, for both brothers, with their funeral scheduled for Saturday.

Jota, who joined Liverpool from Wolves in 2020 for over £40 million, scored 65 goals in 182 appearances and won the Premier League, FA Cup, and two League Cups during his time at Anfield. He also lifted the UEFA Nations League twice with Portugal.

During his five years at Liverpool, Jota formed a close bond with Alexander-Arnold, who recently made a summer switch to Real Madrid. The Spanish giants secured his early release from Liverpool so he could participate in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Now teammates at Real Madrid, Bellingham spoke about how Alexander-Arnold is handling the devastating news. Speaking to reporters, he said:

“It’s been a really tough day for him to take in. They were teammates for five years.

“As a team, we’ve been there to support him, and he’s taken time to reflect and deal with it in his own way.

“It’s an awful tragedy, and I know everyone – players, clubs – sends their love and condolences to Jota’s family.

“It’s heartbreaking news, and we hope his loved ones are given the time, space, and support they need to grieve.”
