Divock Origi breaks his social media silence to pay tribute to Diogo Jota, while Sadio Mane shares a new homage.

Sadio Mane has offered a new tribute to Diogo Jota following the tragic car accident that claimed the lives of Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, on Thursday (July 3). They were driving in Spain to catch a ferry back to Merseyside for Liverpool’s pre-season when their vehicle went off the road due to a tyre blowout.

Jota and Silva were buried in their hometown of Gondomar on Saturday (July 5), with many Liverpool players attending the funeral, including Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, and Caoimhin Kelleher.

Mane, who played alongside Jota for two seasons at Liverpool, made 64 appearances with him and contributed to the team’s victories in both the League Cup and FA Cup.

Initially, Mane expressed his sorrow on Instagram by sharing a photo of him and Jota celebrating a goal at Manchester City, accompanied by two broken heart emojis and a sad face. He later posted additional tributes, sharing two pictures of them celebrating goals for Liverpool and writing: “Your disappearance will leave us with a void because you left in the prime of your age. This makes us sad and dismayed; the best feelings shared remain with those of us who stood by you daily at Liverpool FC. Forever in our hearts.”

Meanwhile, former Liverpool teammate Divock Origi ended a year-long silence on Instagram to honor Jota. He shared a photo of Jota coming on as a substitute in a Champions League match and wrote ahead of the funeral: “Beyond words… Sending love and prayers to Diogo & Andre’s family, wife, and kids. We will miss you. You’ll forever be remembered, brother. 20 forever. You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
