Tottenham have added a £26m-rated Barcelona midfielder to their wishlist and have already made an approach for him this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly among three top European clubs showing interest in Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, according to sources in Spain.

The North London club recently completed the signing of Joao Palhinha, marking their fourth addition of the summer, with Thomas Frank strengthening his midfield options.

Despite missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White, Spurs are still looking to bring in an attacking midfielder. However, it remains uncertain whether they plan to recruit another central midfielder, especially with Yves Bissouma expected to depart.

A new report from Sport suggests Tottenham explored a potential move for 21-year-old Marc Casado earlier this summer. The Spanish midfielder, who made 36 appearances for Barcelona last season, is reportedly not part of Arne Slot’s long-term plans.

Tottenham are said to have approached Barcelona about Casado’s availability, with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid also monitoring the situation. Although the midfielder could be available for around €30m (£26.1m), there’s a complication — Casado is hesitant to leave and would rather stay and compete for a place at the Camp Nou.

Interestingly, Sport claims Spurs made their move for Casado before switching focus to Palhinha, which may suggest they’re unlikely to revive their pursuit of the Barcelona youngster now that the Portuguese midfielder is on board.
