Romano: Liverpool ready to intensify Isak talks as FSG see ‘perfect opportunity’

Fabrizio Romano expects Liverpool to ramp up negotiations with Newcastle over Alexander Isak, with FSG viewing the striker as an ideal market opportunity.

The Reds had a £110m bid rejected earlier this month, but with only five days left before the transfer window shuts, sporting director Richard Hughes is set to step up discussions.

Speaking to DAZN Football, Romano explained:
“Liverpool won’t wait forever. They’ve already spent over a month hoping for Newcastle’s green light. There’s still no agreement, but conversations are expected tonight or tomorrow. Liverpool remain fixed on Isak – he’s their priority.”

On his YouTube channel, Romano added that Liverpool see the 25-year-old as the “perfect striker” and stressed that no other clubs are in the race, making this a major chance to secure him.

However, Newcastle’s reluctance complicates matters. The Magpies don’t want to lose a forward who has scored 62 goals in 109 games, particularly to a Premier League rival, and they’re still struggling to find a replacement after failed bids for Jorge Strand Larsen.

With the transfer deadline closing in, Liverpool are expected to make one final push to land Isak this week, hoping Newcastle’s situation shifts in their favour.
