Supporters Fear Trent Alexander-Arnold May Miss Liverpool Clash Following Champions League Setback

Trent Alexander-Arnold is now a doubt for Real Madrid’s visit to Anfield in November after being forced off just three minutes into their Champions League clash with Marseille.

The 26-year-old was handed a rare start by Xabi Alonso on Tuesday night, having been left out of the weekend’s La Liga fixture against Real Sociedad. With only two starts in four league games since arriving from Liverpool this summer, the match was seen as a big opportunity for Trent to make his mark.

However, the full-back appeared to pull up with a hamstring issue almost immediately, looking emotional as he left the pitch before being replaced by Dani Carvajal. The incident sparked debate online, with some Liverpool supporters joking that Trent was “dodging” a return to Anfield on November 4.

It remains unclear if the problem is indeed a hamstring injury, but if confirmed, he could face a significant spell on the sidelines. For comparison, Chelsea striker Liam Delap is sidelined until December with a similar issue, while Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina will miss the rest of 2025.

Before the game, Alonso had praised Carvajal’s importance to the team, hinting that Trent still faces a battle to nail down a starting spot.
