Liverpool bench angered at full-time
At the final whistle, Liverpool’s coaching staff confronted the officials, furious that Nketiah’s goal came after the six minutes of added time initially announced.
BBC Radio 5 Live’s Ian Dennis remarked: “That was scored in the 98th minute, and Liverpool’s bench are absolutely furious. There was six minutes of added time.”
Only themselves to blame
Arne Slot’s frustration was understandable in the heat of the moment, yet the Liverpool boss should be questioning why his side lost focus as the clock ticked past 97 minutes.
When Palace broke forward, Milos Kerkez’s hurried clearance merely conceded a throw-in in a dangerous area, and the Reds failed to defend it—allowing Nketiah to strike unmarked.
Rather than complaining about the extra minute, Slot must ask why the forward was left free. It’s a harsh lesson in game management for a team that has usually excelled in that department under the Dutchman.
Despite the setback, Liverpool remain top of the table thanks to the cushion they built in earlier weeks.
