Liverpool have received a fresh update on their record signing ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash at Anfield.

During his pre-Manchester United press conference at the AXA Training Centre, Arne Slot provided a fitness update on Alexander Isak.

“He’s had a normal five or six weeks of pre-season,” Slot told reporters. “Physically, he’s close to full fitness, and now we can properly assess him.”

The Reds boss added, “I know how football works — if he plays twice and doesn’t score, that’s not ideal. But I think his pre-season is effectively complete now. He’s had a few games, around 70–80 minutes each, so we’ll see where he’s at.”

Isak himself hinted during Sweden duty last week that he’s ready to feature regularly. “Tomorrow I’ll be ready for 90 minutes if needed,” he said. “It’s been a month since the last international break. I’ve had more playing time and feel much better now.”

Despite Sweden’s disappointing loss to Kosovo, the news that Liverpool’s £125m forward is ready for full matches is a big boost. Fans will be eager to see him build on his minutes as the team continues their title defence.

Slot’s comments suggest Isak could start against United, though Hugo Ekitike is also in contention for a place up front.

With Florian Wirtz finding his rhythm behind the forwards, Liverpool’s new attacking setup is beginning to take shape. After weeks of fitness work, Isak could finally be unleashed at Anfield this weekend — and at full strength.
