Injury Update: Liverpool vs Manchester United
By Peter Kenny Jones – 2 days ago

Liverpool could face a weakened Manchester United side this weekend, with reports indicating that two of Ruben Amorim’s key players missed training ahead of their trip to Anfield.

According to EPL Index, both Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez were absent from United’s most recent session at Carrington, casting major doubt over their availability.

Mazraoui has been out since United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea last month and was initially expected to return after the international break. However, Sky Sports reports that the Moroccan defender is still not training with the group. Martinez, meanwhile, continues his recovery from the ACL injury he suffered in February.

With injuries mounting, Amorim may be forced to turn to United’s academy players to fill gaps in his squad. Several youth names reportedly joined the session, highlighting the growing strain before their clash with the reigning Premier League champions.

Bruno Fernandes also missed training, but only for rest purposes after featuring in Portugal’s 2-2 draw with Hungary — a match where Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai scored a dramatic late equaliser.

Liverpool have fitness issues of their own. Alisson Becker remains out with an injury sustained against Galatasaray, while Ibrahima Konaté is being monitored after pulling out of France duty with a quad problem. Ryan Gravenberch is also a concern, with James Pearce reporting that the midfielder will be assessed for a possible hamstring issue following his early substitution for the Netherlands.

Despite these setbacks, Liverpool are still expected to have enough depth to manage, with new signings Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak eager to make their mark.

With United missing key defenders, Arne Slot’s side will view this weekend’s clash as a prime opportunity to gain momentum ahead of a challenging run of fixtures.
