Thomas Frank Provides Update on Cristian Romero After Shock Pre-Match Injury
Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank has offered an update on Cristian Romero’s condition after the defender was forced to withdraw from the starting lineup moments before kick-off against Aston Villa.
Romero, who had been named in the XI, pulled out during the warm-up after feeling discomfort. Frank later revealed that the issue was related to a minor adductor or abductor problem, which the Argentine had been managing in the days leading up to the game.
Speaking after the 2-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Frank explained:
> “Cristian felt a little bit of tightness during the warm-up. He’s been feeling something small in that area recently, and we didn’t want to take any chances. It doesn’t look serious, but we’ll assess him properly.”
The last-minute setback forced Tottenham into a defensive reshuffle, disrupting their pre-match plans. Despite taking an early lead through Rodrigo Bentancur, Spurs struggled defensively and eventually suffered their second home loss of the season.
Frank expressed optimism that Romero’s injury is not severe and that the centre-back could return soon, depending on the outcome of further medical evaluations.
