Ange Postecoglou was dismissed by Nottingham Forest after just 39 days in charge, following an eight-game winless run that included six defeats and ended with a 3-0 home loss to Chelsea.

Despite that turbulent spell — the shortest permanent managerial reign in Premier League history — his reputation remains strong at Celtic Park, where growing uncertainty surrounds current boss Brendan Rodgers.

Postecoglou linked with Celtic return

According to Football Insider, Postecoglou would “seriously consider” a return to Glasgow if the opportunity presents itself. The speculation has intensified amid reports that Rodgers could leave Celtic when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Rodgers has been tipped for a Premier League comeback, with several potential openings expected. Crystal Palace could part ways with Oliver Glasner amid Manchester United links, while Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola are also attracting interest from elsewhere.

Such movements could pave the way for Rodgers to depart Celtic. His second tenure has been under scrutiny, with disappointing European results and questions over the club’s ambition fuelling talk of an inevitable separation.

Postecoglou’s past success at Celtic

The speculation over a return stems from the remarkable success Postecoglou enjoyed during his two-year stint at Celtic between 2021 and 2023. Arriving as a relatively unknown figure to British fans, he quickly introduced his trademark high-tempo attacking football, affectionately dubbed “Angeball.”

During his time in Glasgow, the former Tottenham boss won five domestic trophies, including back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles and a historic domestic treble in his final season (2022–23).

His ability to rebuild the squad and reignite the club’s connection with supporters solidified his legacy — ensuring that, despite recent struggles in England, Postecoglou remains a revered figure among Celtic fans.
