Tottenham are considering a club-record transfer to sign a new attacker after missing out on Antoine Semenyo.

Tottenham are reportedly “on a mission” to scout a young forward who could become the club’s record signing after missing out on Antoine Semenyo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs had been strongly linked with the Bournemouth winger both in the summer and ahead of the January window, with David Ornstein revealing that the club made a substantial contract offer to the Ghana international. However, Semenyo ultimately rejected Tottenham’s advances, a decision that opened the door for Manchester City and Manchester United to move into pole position.

Semenyo has attracted widespread interest from across the so-called big six following an outstanding start to the season, scoring eight goals in 16 Premier League appearances. Manchester City are now considered the frontrunners, with their willingness to complete a swift January deal aligning with the player’s ambitions.

Romano has revealed that Spurs are closely monitoring RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande, who is currently representing Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The 19-year-old played the full 90 minutes in his country’s opening match against Mozambique and is expected to be one of the tournament’s standout performers. Reports suggest the versatile winger, who can operate on either flank, would cost in excess of £87 million — a fee that would surpass Tottenham’s current transfer record.

Diomande has enjoyed an impressive season with Leipzig, scoring seven goals and registering four assists in 16 appearances, including a hat-trick in a 6–0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
