Thomas Frank has offered some revealing insight into what Tottenham are aiming to do in the January transfer window.
Spurs closed out 2025 with a crucial 1-0 victory away at Crystal Palace, a result that moved them to within five points of Chelsea in fifth place.
The coming weeks represent a pivotal period for Tottenham, on and off the pitch, as they attempt to rediscover consistency and bolster their squad. Reports have suggested the club are ready to spend heavily to address key areas, but Frank has now shed light on how the club plans to approach the winter window.
Frank plays down January spending talk
Despite claims that Spurs could hand Frank a £150 million budget in January, the 52-year-old struck a cautious tone, suggesting the club will only act if the right opportunities arise.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Frank explained that Tottenham will assess the market but will not rush into deals that do not clearly improve the squad.
“Obviously the window opens and we’ll look at what’s available and whether there’s something that can strengthen the team,” he said. “If not, we’d rather wait, but we’ll be active and see what’s out there.”
Spurs still in a transition phase
Although the win at Selhurst Park eased some of the immediate pressure, Frank acknowledged that Tottenham remain a work in progress.
The Dane admitted the club is still navigating a transitional period but stressed that there are encouraging signs, particularly in terms of mentality and resilience.
“I think we’re still in that transition phase we’ve been in for a while,” Frank added. “We came into a season where we’re competing in the Champions League and the Premier League.
“There have been plenty of positives, especially the resilience we showed today in a game that wasn’t perfect. Winning 1-0 away in a tight, difficult match shows real quality. Now it’s about continuing to build, step by step, with every game.”
