Tottenham are reportedly targeting an “outstanding” £87m-rated star as a potential January replacement for Brennan Johnson.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly showing interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande following an agreement with Crystal Palace over the potential sale of Brennan Johnson, according to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel.
GIVEMESPORT revealed on Tuesday morning that Crystal Palace have reached a £35 million agreement with Spurs for Johnson. Everton and Bournemouth are also understood to be monitoring the situation, while the Wales international is yet to decide whether he wants to complete a move to Selhurst Park.
With several Premier League clubs circling and a deal already in place with Palace, Johnson appears increasingly likely to leave north London, which would force Tottenham to line up a replacement ahead of the January window.
Mokbel reports that Spurs have already begun exploring alternatives, with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande emerging as one of the names under consideration. The teenage winger has enjoyed a breakout campaign in the Bundesliga and is regarded as one of the most promising young wide players in Europe.
The 19-year-old has registered a combined total of eight goals and assists from just 10 Bundesliga starts this season, underlining his rapid development and significant upside. Diomande only joined Leipzig in January, having previously spent time at Leganes, where he made six starts in La Liga last season.
Johnson, meanwhile, has struggled for consistent minutes, starting only six Premier League matches so far this term. Following Tottenham’s heavy investment in their squad, the winger has found himself on the fringes of the starting lineup. Spurs are now in a position to recover a substantial portion of their initial outlay should Johnson depart, potentially freeing up funds to pursue younger, high-ceiling talents.
The summer arrivals of Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus further reduced Johnson’s role, leaving him largely as a rotational option. While his presence as a squad player could still be valuable, the £35 million offer represents a significant proposal that Tottenham may find difficult to refuse.
