Tottenham have devised a fresh strategy aimed at persuading Micky van de Ven to commit his future to the club by signing a new contract.
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a major push to secure Micky van de Ven’s long-term future, with growing interest in the defender from some of Europe’s elite clubs.
Spurs have already made strong progress in locking down key members of their squad in recent months. Cristian Romero put pen to paper on a new long-term deal in August, while Rodrigo Bentancur and Djed Spence have also pledged their futures to the club.
Now, attention has turned firmly to Van de Ven, with Tottenham placing a renewed deal for the Dutch centre-back high on their list of priorities. A fresh report has shed light on just how far the North London club are prepared to go to keep him at N17.
Tottenham prepared to make Van de Ven one of their top earners
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are not facing any immediate risk of losing Van de Ven despite strong interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, with his current contract running until 2029.
That said, Spurs are keen to fast-track negotiations in the New Year as they look to extend his stay even further. The report claims Van de Ven currently earns around £90,000 per week, but the club are ready to significantly improve those terms.
Tottenham are reportedly willing to more than double his wages, making him a joint highest-paid player at the club alongside captain Cristian Romero, who earns around £200,000 per week including bonuses.
Long-standing talks and captaincy ambitions
TEAMtalk also reveals that discussions over a new contract have been ongoing for several months, with CEO Vinai Venkatesham opening talks with Van de Ven’s representatives during the summer.
Negotiations are expected to gather pace at the beginning of 2026, as Spurs aim to underline their ambition through heavy investment in both new signings and contract renewals for their core players.
The report adds that senior figures at Tottenham see Van de Ven as a future club captain, underlining just how highly he is valued within the club hierarchy.
