Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank remains hopeful that Lucas Bergvall will be available for Thursday night’s London derby against Brentford.

The Swedish midfielder was forced off with a suspected groin problem during Spurs’ 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend. However, Frank confirmed on Tuesday that Bergvall has a strong chance of featuring in the match.

If declared fit, Bergvall is expected to start again in the advanced midfield role currently vacated by Xavi Simons, who is serving the second match of a three-game suspension following his red card against Liverpool two gameweeks ago. Should Bergvall fail a late fitness assessment, Joao Palhinha is the alternative option.

In attack, Mohammed Kudus, Randal Kolo Muani and Richarlison are set to continue in the front line.

Defensively, Cristian Romero is available again after completing his suspension for his dismissal against Liverpool and could return to the starting lineup in place of Kevin Danso.

Meanwhile, Tottenham remain without Destiny Udogie, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke due to injury. Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma are also unavailable as they are currently away on Africa Cup of Nations duty.
