The Wales international played an important role under former manager Ange Postecoglou but slipped down the pecking order following Thomas Frank’s arrival.
Johnson joined Spurs from Nottingham Forest in 2023 for around £47.5m and enjoyed a standout second season, scoring 18 goals across all competitions. His most memorable moment came in May, when his close-range finish against Manchester United secured Tottenham’s first trophy in years.
However, increased competition and a change in management limited his opportunities this season, prompting a move to Selhurst Park. Palace, currently sitting above Spurs in the Premier League, hope Johnson’s pace and goal threat will boost their attack as they push on domestically and in the Conference League.
Speaking after completing the transfer, Johnson said he was excited to begin a new chapter with a club he has long admired, while Palace boss Oliver Glasner praised the winger’s quality and versatility, describing him as a valuable addition ahead of a busy run of fixtures.
