Tottenham have managed just one victory in their last five Premier League matches and currently sit 13th in the table following the weekend’s results. It has been an underwhelming beginning to Thomas Frank’s spell in charge, highlighting the need for squad reinforcements if the club are to reverse their fortunes.

Tottenham Make Offer for Brazilian Star

According to The Athletic, Tottenham have had an £8m offer turned down for Santos left-back Souza. The Brazilian club are reluctant to sell the teenager, believing his market value will continue to rise.

Souza, who has been labelled “exceptionally quick” by Transfermarkt, has a release clause of approximately £87m in his contract for overseas clubs. Reports suggest Spurs are keen to bolster their full-back options before the winter transfer window closes. Destiny Udogie is currently sidelined with injury, leaving veteran Ben Davies to deputise at left-back in Sunday’s draw with Sunderland.

Despite his young age, Souza featured prominently for Santos last season, making 24 appearances in the Brazilian Serie A as the club successfully avoided relegation. The 19-year-old has also represented Brazil at U17 level on 12 occasions, underlining his rapid development and potential.

Squad Situation

While Souza is already making an impression at senior level, his profile remains that of a developing player. With Tottenham currently struggling in the lower half of the Premier League under Frank, the pressure is on to find solutions that can help lift performances as the season progresses.
